On our travels we have learnt much about the Russian etiquette
of long distance train travel, namely:-
·
On boarding the train, promptly change into leisurewear. This should preferably be a matching
tracksuit circa 1980s and these shall be the only clothes you wear for the entirety
of your stay on the train.
·
This look should invariably be teamed with a
pair of socks and sandals
·
The only exception to this rule is if it is hot
when it is perfectly acceptable for the men to only wear shorts, the larger the
man the more acceptable this appears to be.
·
The only glamorous exception we found was the
Russian lady who only wore a silk kimono, which she sensibly put a leather
jacket over when she went outside for a fag.
·
Once on the train it is expected to sleep for at
least 22 hours of the day.
